Parabola: Geometric Definition
A Parabola is the set of all points equidistant (equally distant, equal, or congruent) from a line and a point not on the line. The line is called the directrix, and the point is called the focus. A line constructed through the point perpendicular to the line is the axis of symmetry. The axis of symmetry intersects the parabola at the vertex. |
